About Me

My name is Leila, I am a nerdy bookworm and a recently trained Steiner Teacher.  I visited Indonesia in 2008 and decided there that I had to go back; we had only three weeks as part of an art festival before returning to Manchester Airport and Preston, my university town.  I am a self confessed scaredy-cat come adventurer.  I am lacking in common sense at times yet I will talk quite seriously about quarks.  Clumsy and enthusiastic, after the angel Gabriel approached me in a dream and told me I was going back to Indonesia I ran to STA Travel and booked some flights.  I am both unprepared(financially, emotionally, in my wits...) and very well read in Lonely Planet guides.  I have gastronome-like tendencies, although lacking in the pennies to fuel this hunger.  This is where the trip to South East Asia comes in.  With my limited pennies and my determination I can explore places, eat a lot, and do things I could not do in the UK.  I will discover my limits and my ability to stand on my own little feet as I travel solo.  And there was just something about that place that I loved, so I am going back for more. The main purpose of my trip is some recovery, after a year of lots of tough things.  This does seem luxurious, and it is, though two years of saving and the decision was all it took.  I hope that where I go I will have some space and time to breathe out, share in some laughter and let some of the muddy water settle so all is clear and bright.  I will endeavour to remember and forget, and remember again, as I devote myself to inquiry and openness!
