My Planned Route

I plan first to visit friends in Yogyakarta http://www.yogyes.com/en/yogyakarta-tourism-object/ for a couple of weeks,

before heading over to Bali, http://www.lonelyplanet.com/indonesia/bali quite possibly over land.

The journey over land, via Gunung Bromo, an incredible volcano in the sea of sands. Short ferry trip and you are in Bali!
Gunung Bromo Crater from Mt. Penanjakan, Bromo Tengger Semeru NP, Java, Indonesia

In Bali I will likely stay in Ubud for a week or so, taking in the creative spirit that it is famous for, some time to  do whatever it is I want to do and to see what comes, and likely a visit to the Monkey Forest!

Below is a link to a video my freind Ruth took at the Monkey Forest in Ubud.  I have been here before and although it is an obvious tourist attraction it is gorgeous and lovely to watch the monkeys.

Last time I was quite mesmerised by a mother monkey, sat in lotus position, eyes closed, breastfeeding her baby.  Check out Ruth's other videos from her travel, and you can follow her blog at:

From here I will fly to Singapore http://www.lonelyplanet.com/singapore,

take the train and buses to explore Malaysia http://www.malaysia.com/

for two weeks before taking the train to Bangkok, from where I will explore Thailand http://www.thailand.com/travel/main.html

for 5 weeks before returning for a final 3 weeks to Indonesia,

and then back home in time for Christmas (dinner with the family).
